Why people pick the 4 Series Gran Coupé 430i xDrive M Sport Pro
- Coupé roofline, four doors, a hatchback trunk. Looks expensive, works daily.
- All-wheel drive and 245 hp.
Who the 4 Series Gran Coupé suits
The 4 Series Gran Coupé looks like a coupé and works like a hatchback. It has a low, sloping roofline, four doors and a large tailgate that opens together with the rear window, so loading a suitcase or a pushchair is easier than in a classic sedan. Our car is a 430i xDrive M Sport Pro: 2.0-litre turbo petrol, 245 hp, automatic gearbox and xDrive all-wheel drive.
It suits couples and small families who want a car that looks upmarket without giving up daily practicality. All-wheel drive makes the 245 hp usable in rain and snow with the seasonal tyres we fit, so it is a proper year-round car, not just a summer toy. The five seats and four doors work for a child seat in the back.
The 4 Series Gran Coupé is a good fit for a posting with a social side: evenings in Munich or Wiesbaden, visitors to show around, a car that looks right in front of a restaurant, and still a car that handles the Monday commute in snow. xDrive and the 245 hp petrol engine make it quick and sure-footed on wet Autobahn stretches, and the big tailgate means a furniture store run or airport luggage is not a problem. Couples and small families are the natural owners. If you regularly carry three adults in the back, the extra headroom of the 330i xDrive Touring is worth more than the roofline.
The roofline takes some rear headroom compared to the 3 Series Touring, and very tall rear passengers will notice. If you want the same power and all-wheel drive with more space, the 330i xDrive Touring costs the same. If you want a pure two-door driver's car, the 230i Coupé is in the same price class but has rear-wheel drive. For long diesel distances, the 520d xDrive Sedan is the calmer choice.

Is there a deposit?

Is the 430i xDrive Gran Coupé good in winter?
Yes. xDrive all-wheel drive and the winter tyres we fit make its 245 hp usable in rain and snow, so it is a year-round car. Braking distances on ice do not get shorter with all-wheel drive, so keep your distance.

Officially 7.1–7.8 litres of petrol per 100 km combined, with combined CO₂ emissions of 161–177 g/km and CO₂ class F–G (WLTP, figures from BMW, 430i xDrive Gran Coupé Steptronic). The range depends on the equipment. WLTP is a test value; your own figure depends on how you drive.
How fast is the 4 Series Gran Coupé?
0 to 100 km/h in 6.1 seconds and a top speed of 250 km/h, according to BMW (430i xDrive Gran Coupé Steptronic).
How big is the 4 Series Gran Coupé on the outside, will it fit my garage?
It is 4,783 mm long, 1,852 mm wide and 1,442 mm high (figures from BMW). The width is the body; the mirrors come on top.
