Can I use VAT forms for a car subscription?

No. Under Army in Europe regulations (AER 215-6), tax-relief (VAT) forms may not be used for long-term contracts such as vehicle leasing or subscriptions, and purchases may not be split to stay under thresholds. Anyone who tells you otherwise is putting your wallet and your commander's patience at risk.

What IS eligible for VAT relief?

Short-term car rentals can be eligible with the proper NF-1 form obtained before payment — many newcomers use this during their first weeks in Germany. Confirm the current rules with your installation's VAT office (e.g. Grafenwoehr Tax Relief Office) before booking; they have the final word, not us.

What about the Remonon app?

Remonon is an app that digitalizes the VAT-form process for everyday purchases in Germany. It's useful for daily life — groceries, furniture, repairs — but it does not change the rules above for long-term vehicle contracts. Learn more at your VAT office or remonon.de.

FAQ.

Do I need a SCHUFA or German credit history?

No. Valid license, ID card, refundable deposit — that's it. We built this for Americans stationed in Germany.

Can I drive with my U.S. license?

SOFA-status personnel drive with a U.S. license plus their USAREUR-AF certificate of license. Bring both to the handover.

What's the minimum age?

18. Drivers under 25 pay a transparent young-driver surcharge shown before you reserve. Some higher-powered cars have a higher minimum age set by our insurer.

What if I get PCS or deployment orders?

Show us the official orders, hand back the keys, the subscription ends. No selling a car three days before your flight, no lemon lot.

What's included in the monthly price?

German registration & road tax, liability + full comprehensive insurance, maintenance, inspections and seasonal tires. Fuel and your mileage package choice are the only variables.
