BMW car subscription X3 40d xDrive M Sport Pro

The X3 40d xDrive is the current X3 with the big engine. It has a 3.0-litre six-cylinder diesel mild hybrid with 303 hp, automatic gearbox and xDrive all-wheel drive, in M Sport Pro trim. It is the most powerful SUV in our fleet, but it keeps the X3's manageable size for German streets and parking spaces.

It suits families and drivers who want an SUV that never feels stretched: fully loaded on the Autobahn, on mountain passes on the way to a ski resort, or with a trailer. The six-cylinder diesel delivers strong pulling power and a long range, and all-wheel drive with the seasonal tyres we fit makes it one of the most capable winter cars we offer.

The X3 40d is the car for households that do everything at once: a family of four, a camping trailer for summer weekends if the concrete car has a hitch (you request it at booking), ski trips in winter and a monthly drive between Bavaria and a base in Rhineland-Palatinate. The six-cylinder makes all of that feel easy, even fully loaded on a long climb, and xDrive keeps the car composed on snowy country roads around the training areas. It is still an X3, so it fits normal parking spaces on post and in German towns. If your life is mostly local, the X3 20d gives you the same space with a smaller engine.

Space inside is the same as in the X3 20d xDrive, so the choice between them comes down to the engine. If you mostly drive in town, around post and on shorter routes, the 20d at a lower price class does the job well. If you cover long distances, tow, or simply want effortless performance, the 40d is worth it.
