Who the 5 Series Sedan 540d xDrive suits
The 540d xDrive Sedan is the most refined long-distance car in our fleet. It is the current 5 Series with a 3.0-litre six-cylinder diesel mild hybrid, 299 hp, automatic gearbox and xDrive all-wheel drive, in M Sport Pro trim. The six-cylinder is smooth and quiet at low speed and has plenty in reserve at Autobahn pace.
It suits people who spend hours in the car and want to arrive fresh: senior staff with frequent drives to meetings across Germany, couples who like long road trips, or families who want real legroom in the back. The rear seats are genuinely comfortable for adults, and the separate boot keeps luggage out of sight when you park at hotels or airports.
The 540d Sedan makes the most sense when the car is your office between appointments. Think of a month with drives to Stuttgart, Wiesbaden and Brussels, meetings where you want to arrive fresh, and passengers in the back who deserve legroom. The six-cylinder is almost silent at cruising speed, and xDrive means winter weather does not decide whether the meeting happens. It is equally a car for couples who love long road trips across Europe and want the most relaxed way to do them. For short, local driving it is more car than you need, and the 520d Sedan covers that life well.
Compared to the 520d xDrive Sedan, you pay for the engine: more torque, more calm when overtaking, same space. If you mostly drive shorter distances, the 520d is the better value one price class lower. If you need a wagon for luggage or dogs, the 540d xDrive Touring has the same engine at the same price. What is included in the monthly price?
Fully comprehensive and partial cover with a EUR 1,500 deductible, registration, German plates and road tax, maintenance and service, seasonal tyres, 3,000 km a month and a PCS clause. There is no setup fee. VAT forms accepted. You add fuel.
Is there a deposit?
Yes, three months' rent of your plan: €6,657 on the 6-month plan and on the 30-day plan incl. VAT, €5,595 on the 30-day plan with a VAT form (NF-1), VAT-free. You pay it on site at handover, not online. You get the deposit back immediately at the return, as soon as the return report shows no damage. There is no down payment. For customers resident in Germany we run a credit check with SCHUFA Holding AG before the contract starts. If the result is negative, we may decline the booking; anything already paid is refunded in full.
Is the 540d Sedan the most powerful sedan you offer?
Yes. It has a 3.0-litre six-cylinder diesel mild hybrid with 299 hp, xDrive all-wheel drive and an automatic gearbox, and it is the only six-cylinder sedan in our fleet.
540d Sedan or 540d Touring?
Same engine, same xDrive, different body. The Sedan keeps luggage out of sight in a separate boot; the Touring is the wagon for bulky loads, dogs and family holidays.
