Why people pick the 3 Series Sedan M Sport
- The default German company car for a reason: quiet, quick, frugal.
- Rear-wheel drive, 8-speed automatic, big trunk.
Who the 3 Series Sedan suits
The 3 Series Sedan in our fleet is a 320d: a 2.0-litre diesel mild hybrid with 190 hp, rear-wheel drive and BMW's eight-speed automatic. It is the classic German company car for a reason. It is quiet at Autobahn speed, has enough power for overtaking on country roads and the diesel keeps fuel stops rare on long drives.
The boot holds about 480 litres, enough for a family's weekend luggage or a large grocery run, and the rear bench seats three. That makes it a good fit for couples and small families who want a proper sedan without moving up to SUV size. If you often carry bulky things like a bike, a dog crate or moving boxes, the 3 Series Touring gives you the same car with a wagon body.
In practice the 320d is the car for people whose job involves the road: an hour of commuting each way, regular drives between Grafenwoehr, Vilseck and Hohenfels, or monthly trips to Ramstein or Stuttgart. The eight-speed automatic and the diesel keep the engine relaxed at Autobahn speed, and the cabin stays quiet on long runs. Passengers in the back get noticeably more room than in the compact cars of our fleet, so a couple with one child or colleagues sharing a ride fit comfortably. And a lockable boot under a lid is a small security plus when you leave the car at a train station or airport.
Rear-wheel drive feels balanced on dry roads. In snow it relies on the winter tyres we fit for the season and on the stability control, and it asks for a little more care on steep, icy hills than an all-wheel-drive car. If you live somewhere hilly or drive early shifts before the roads are cleared, look at the 330i xDrive Touring or the 520d xDrive Sedan. For everyone else, this is the most balanced sedan in our entry class.

Is there a deposit?
Yes, three months' rent of your plan: €4,347 on the 6-month plan and on the 30-day plan incl. VAT, €3,654 on the 30-day plan with a VAT form (NF-1), VAT-free. You pay it on site at handover, not online. You get the deposit back immediately at the return, as soon as the return report shows no damage. There is no down payment. For customers resident in Germany we run a credit check with SCHUFA Holding AG before the contract starts. If the result is negative, we may decline the booking; anything already paid is refunded in full.
Is the 320d Sedan rear-wheel drive?
Yes. The 3 Series Sedan in our fleet is a 320d with rear-wheel drive, a 2.0-litre diesel mild hybrid with 190 hp and an eight-speed automatic. It drives well on cleared winter roads with the winter tyres we fit. If you need all-wheel drive, the BMW 520d xDrive Sedan or the Mercedes GLA 4MATIC are the closest alternatives.
3 Series Sedan or 3 Series Touring?
Same engine, same drive, different body. The Sedan keeps luggage out of sight under a boot lid. The Touring is the wagon with a tailgate, a separately opening rear window and more room for bulky items like bikes, a dog crate or moving boxes.
How big is the boot of the 3 Series Sedan?
480 litres with all seats in use (figures from BMW, 320d Limousine Steptronic). Our source gives no figure with the rear seats folded. The 3 Series Touring takes 20 litres more (500 litres).
How much fuel does the 3 Series Sedan use?
Officially 4.9–5.6 litres of diesel per 100 km combined, with combined CO₂ emissions of 129–147 g/km and CO₂ class D–E (WLTP, figures from BMW, 320d Limousine Steptronic). The range depends on the equipment. WLTP is a test value; your own figure depends on how you drive.
How much can the 3 Series Sedan tow?
Up to 1,600 kg braked at a 12 % gradient, according to BMW (320d Limousine Steptronic). A hitch depends on the concrete car: request it at booking, we confirm by email.
How fast is the 3 Series Sedan?
0 to 100 km/h in 6.9 seconds and a top speed of 235 km/h, according to BMW (320d Limousine Steptronic).
