Why people pick the 3 Series Touring M Sport
- The 3 Series with a proper trunk. Skis, a dog, a PCS worth of boxes.
- Separate opening rear window for quick loading.
Who the 3 Series Touring suits
The 3 Series Touring is the 3 Series for people who carry things. Behind the rear seats there are about 500 litres, and with the 40:20:40 split rear bench folded you get up to about 1,510 litres. The rear window opens separately from the tailgate, which is handy for throwing in a jacket or a shopping bag in a tight parking space.
Our car is a 320d M Sport: 2.0-litre diesel mild hybrid, 190 hp, rear-wheel drive and eight-speed automatic. It suits families with a pram and a dog, anyone moving house during a PCS, and weekend skiers who want long items inside rather than on the roof. The diesel keeps long drives to the Alps, the Czech border or Ramstein relaxed.
The Touring is at its best in the busy first weeks after a PCS. Temporary lodging to the new house, runs to the furniture store, bags of bedding and a vacuum cleaner that did not fit into the household goods shipment: a wagon handles all of that without a roof box. Later in the tour it becomes the weekend car, with bikes or skis inside and the diesel making a trip to the Alps or the Baltic coast easy. Families with a large dog like the low load floor, because the dog does not have to jump as high as into an SUV. If you mostly drive short distances, the petrol Cupra Leon Sportstourer is the better wagon for you.
Compared to an SUV of similar size, the Touring sits lower, which makes loading heavy items easier and keeps fuel use down on the Autobahn. In winter it drives on rear-wheel drive with the seasonal tyres we fit. If you want the same wagon with all-wheel drive and a petrol engine, the 330i xDrive Touring is one price class up. If you want more rear legroom and a longer load floor, the 5 Series Touring is the longest wagon in our fleet.

Questions
What is included in the monthly price?
Fully comprehensive and partial cover with a EUR 1,500 deductible, registration, German plates and road tax, maintenance and service, seasonal tyres, 3,000 km a month and a PCS clause. There is no setup fee. VAT forms accepted. You add fuel.
Is there a deposit?
Yes, three months' rent of your plan: €4,347 on the 6-month plan and on the 30-day plan incl. VAT, €3,654 on the 30-day plan with a VAT form (NF-1), VAT-free. You pay it on site at handover, not online. You get the deposit back immediately at the return, as soon as the return report shows no damage. There is no down payment. For customers resident in Germany we run a credit check with SCHUFA Holding AG before the contract starts. If the result is negative, we may decline the booking; anything already paid is refunded in full.
Does the 3 Series Touring have all-wheel drive?
This one does not. Our 320d Touring has rear-wheel drive with a 2.0-litre diesel mild hybrid, 190 hp and an eight-speed automatic. If you want the same wagon with xDrive all-wheel drive, the 330i xDrive Touring is the petrol version.
Will the first load of a PCS move fit in the 3 Series Touring?
A good part of it, yes. With the rear bench folded the load area is long, so boxes, bedding and small furniture go in without a roof box. For bigger loads or a family of five with luggage, the BMW 520d xDrive Touring is the longest wagon in our fleet.
How big is the boot of the 3 Series Touring?
500 litres with all seats in use, up to 1,510 litres with the rear seats folded (figures from BMW, 320d Touring Steptronic). That is 20 litres more than the 3 Series Sedan (480 litres).
How fast is the 3 Series Touring?
0 to 100 km/h in 7.2 seconds and a top speed of 229 km/h, according to BMW (320d Touring Steptronic). The 330i xDrive Touring needs 6.0 seconds to 100 km/h.
How much can the 3 Series Touring tow?
Up to 1,800 kg braked at a 12 % gradient, according to BMW (320d Touring Steptronic). A hitch depends on the concrete car: request it at booking, we confirm by email.
