- Cupra's own design, not a rebadged anything. Turns heads on and off post.
- Raised seating with hatchback handling.
Who the Cupra Formentor suits
The Formentor is a coupé SUV with its own design, not a rebadged model from another brand. It sits a little higher than a normal compact car, which makes getting in and out easier and gives a better view over traffic, but it drives with the low weight and handling of a compact.
Our car has the 1.5 eTSI: a petrol mild hybrid with 150 hp, front-wheel drive and a DSG automatic. It suits singles and couples who want something that stands out, and who drive mostly around town and on country roads with the occasional longer trip. The petrol engine is happy with short distances and the running costs stay modest.
The Formentor fits people who want their time in Germany to feel like a bit of an adventure without making daily life complicated. It is a good car for exploring: Nuremberg and Munich are easy weekend runs, the Bavarian Forest is close to the bases in the Upper Palatinate, and the raised seating position gives you a better view on unfamiliar roads. The petrol engine and DSG automatic keep daily driving on post simple and the running costs modest. Singles and couples are the natural owners; two child seats and a big stroller will feel cramped under that sloping roof.
The sloping roof trims some rear headroom and boot height compared to a classic SUV, so it is less suited to families with bulky prams or large dogs. For more loading space with the same engine, look at the Cupra Leon Sportstourer. Despite the SUV look, this Formentor is front-wheel drive, so in winter it relies on the seasonal tyres we fit. If you want all-wheel drive in a compact SUV, the Mercedes GLA 4MATIC is the closest alternative in the same price class.

Questions
What is included in the monthly price?
Fully comprehensive and partial cover with a EUR 1,500 deductible, registration, German plates and road tax, maintenance and service, seasonal tyres, 3,000 km a month and a PCS clause. There is no setup fee. VAT forms accepted. You add fuel.
Is there a deposit?
Yes, three months' rent of your plan: €3,687 on the 6-month plan and on the 30-day plan incl. VAT, €3,099 on the 30-day plan with a VAT form (NF-1), VAT-free. You pay it on site at handover, not online. You get the deposit back immediately at the return, as soon as the return report shows no damage. There is no down payment. For customers resident in Germany we run a credit check with SCHUFA Holding AG before the contract starts. If the result is negative, we may decline the booking; anything already paid is refunded in full.
Is the Formentor all-wheel drive?
No. Despite the SUV look, our Formentor is front-wheel drive, with the 1.5 eTSI petrol mild hybrid, 150 hp and a DSG automatic. For all-wheel drive in a compact SUV, look at the Mercedes GLA 4MATIC.
Formentor or BMW X2?
Both are coupé SUVs with petrol engines and front-wheel drive. The Formentor has the 1.5 eTSI with 150 hp; the X2 is the sDrive20i with 170 hp. The choice is mostly design and brand: the Cupra looks more distinctive, the BMW feels more like a classic premium car inside.
How big is the boot of the Formentor?
450 litres with all seats in use, up to 1,505 litres with the rear seats folded (figures from the ADAC car catalogue, Formentor 1.5 eTSI DSG). The Leon Sportstourer takes 170 litres more (620 litres).
How much fuel does the Formentor use?
Officially 5.8–6.2 litres of petrol per 100 km combined, with combined CO₂ emissions of 130–140 g/km and CO₂ class D–E (WLTP, figures from Cupra, Formentor 1.5 eTSI DSG). The range depends on the equipment. WLTP is a test value; your own figure depends on how you drive.
How much can the Formentor tow?
Up to 1,500 kg braked at a 12 % gradient, according to the ADAC car catalogue (Formentor 1.5 eTSI DSG). A hitch depends on the concrete car: request it at booking, we confirm by email.
