Who the A-Class Sedan suits
The A-Class Sedan is the smallest car in our fleet with a separate, lockable boot. That matters more than it sounds if you park in shared lots on post or leave the car at a train station: bags and shopping stay out of sight under a proper boot lid instead of behind a hatchback's glass.
Under the bonnet is the A 200, a 1.3-litre petrol mild hybrid with 163 hp, front-wheel drive and an automatic gearbox. It is a good fit for a single driver or a couple who mostly drive between housing, the gate and town, with the odd weekend trip on the Autobahn. Four doors and five seats mean a child seat in the back is no problem, but if you regularly carry three adults in the rear or a large pram, the C-Class Estate or the BMW X1 give you more room.
A typical month with the A-Class Sedan: the daily drive from housing to the gate, the commissary run on Saturday and a free weekend in Nuremberg or Regensburg. Its compact size fits the narrow spaces of older German apartment blocks and town-centre garages without a fight, and the automatic gearbox means nobody in the household has to relearn a clutch on German hills. It works well as a second car for six months while one partner commutes and the other handles school and errands, because it is easy to park and quick to get used to.
On a snowy morning in the Upper Palatinate the A-Class relies on front-wheel drive and the winter tyres we fit for the season. It is a calm, easy car for people new to German roads: compact enough for tight old-town garages, and quiet at motorway speeds. If you want the same size with a sportier roofline, look at the CLA Coupé in the same price class.

Questions
What is included in the monthly price?
Fully comprehensive and partial cover with a EUR 1,500 deductible, registration, German plates and road tax, maintenance and service, seasonal tyres, 3,000 km a month and a PCS clause. There is no setup fee. VAT forms accepted. You add fuel.
Is there a deposit?
Yes, three months' rent of your plan: €3,897 on the 6-month plan and on the 30-day plan incl. VAT, €3,276 on the 30-day plan with a VAT form (NF-1), VAT-free. You pay it on site at handover, not online. You get the deposit back immediately at the return, as soon as the return report shows no damage. There is no down payment. For customers resident in Germany we run a credit check with SCHUFA Holding AG before the contract starts. If the result is negative, we may decline the booking; anything already paid is refunded in full.
Does the A-Class Sedan have a hatchback?
No. This is the four-door sedan version of the A-Class, with a separate boot under a lid, which keeps bags out of sight. If you often carry bulky items like a pushchair or moving boxes, a wagon such as the Cupra Leon Sportstourer or an SUV such as the BMW X1 is more practical.
Is the A-Class Sedan a good fit for short trips on post?
Yes. It is an A 200 petrol mild hybrid with 163 hp, and a petrol engine copes better with short runs between housing, the gate and the commissary than a diesel does. If most of your driving is long Autobahn commuting, a diesel like the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé 218d is the more economical choice.
How big is the boot of the A-Class Sedan?
395 litres with all seats in use (figures from the ADAC car catalogue, A 200 Limousine 7G-DCT). Our source gives no figure with the rear seats folded. The CLA Coupé takes 10 litres more (405 litres).
How fast is the A-Class Sedan?
0 to 100 km/h in 8.3 seconds and a top speed of 230 km/h, according to the ADAC car catalogue (A 200 Limousine 7G-DCT). The CLA Coupé needs 8.0 seconds to 100 km/h.
How big is the A-Class Sedan on the outside, will it fit my garage?
It is 4,558 mm long, 1,796 mm wide and 1,429 mm high (figures from the ADAC car catalogue). The width is the body; the mirrors come on top.
