Why people pick the GLC AMG Line

  • Mercedes' best-selling SUV worldwide. Comfortable, quiet, all-wheel drive.
  • Proper trunk, proper rear seats, proper winter car.

Who the Mercedes GLC suits

The GLC has been one of Mercedes' best-selling models worldwide for years, and it is a very complete family car. Our car is the current generation GLC 220 d 4MATIC: 2.0-litre diesel mild hybrid, 197 hp, automatic gearbox and 4MATIC all-wheel drive, with AMG Line trim. The boot holds about 620 litres, and the rear bench is wide enough for two child seats with room to spare.

It suits families who want comfort first. It is quiet at speed, rides smoothly over rough country roads and handles long drives well, for example from Bavaria to Ramstein or Wiesbaden, or a road trip to Italy. All-wheel drive plus the winter tyres we fit make it one of the most relaxed cars in our fleet for Upper Palatinate winters.

If your family is arriving in Germany in winter with young children, the GLC is the car we would hand you first. The ride is soft enough for sleeping toddlers, the rear bench takes two child seats with room to spare, and 4MATIC plus winter tyres make the first snowy commute to post a non-event. It also handles the logistics of a PCS well: suitcases from the airport, first shopping trips for the new house, visits to friends at other bases. Parents often underestimate how much a quiet cabin matters on a three-hour drive with kids, and this is where the GLC earns its place over smaller SUVs.

The GLC is the right choice if you want space, all-wheel drive and a calm drive more than sporty handling. If you prefer a more agile feel with a similar package, compare it with the BMW X3 20d xDrive at the same price. If you do not need an SUV, the C-Class Estate offers a similar Mercedes interior with a lower loading edge, but with rear-wheel drive instead of 4MATIC.

Everyday facts: Mercedes GLC 220 d 4MATIC

Questions

What is included in the monthly price?

Fully comprehensive and partial cover with a EUR 1,500 deductible, registration, German plates and road tax, maintenance and service, seasonal tyres, 3,000 km a month and a PCS clause. There is no setup fee. VAT forms accepted. You add fuel.

Is there a deposit?

Yes, three months' rent of your plan: €5,397 on the 6-month plan and on the 30-day plan incl. VAT, €4,536 on the 30-day plan with a VAT form (NF-1), VAT-free. You pay it on site at handover, not online. You get the deposit back immediately at the return, as soon as the return report shows no damage. There is no down payment. For customers resident in Germany we run a credit check with SCHUFA Holding AG before the contract starts. If the result is negative, we may decline the booking; anything already paid is refunded in full.

Is the GLC good for a family of four?

Yes. The GLC 220 d 4MATIC has a rear bench wide enough for two child seats, a large boot and all-wheel drive, and it is one of the calmest long-distance cars in our fleet.

GLC or BMW X3 20d xDrive?

Very close technically: both are diesel SUVs with 197 hp and all-wheel drive. The GLC leans towards comfort and a soft ride, the X3 towards a more agile feel. Pick the interior and driving style you like better.

How big is the boot of the GLC?

620 litres with all seats in use, up to 1,680 litres with the rear seats folded (figures from the ADAC car catalogue, GLC 220 d 4MATIC 9G-TRONIC). That is 75 litres more than the GLC Coupé (545 litres).

How much can the GLC tow?

Up to 2,500 kg braked at a 12 % gradient, according to the ADAC car catalogue (GLC 220 d 4MATIC 9G-TRONIC). A hitch depends on the concrete car: request it at booking, we confirm by email.

How big is the GLC on the outside, will it fit my garage?

It is 4,716 mm long, 1,890 mm wide and 1,640 mm high (figures from the ADAC car catalogue). The width is the body; the mirrors come on top.
