Who the Mercedes GLC Coupé suits

The GLC Coupé is the GLC with a sloping, fastback roof. Underneath it is the same current-generation technology: a GLC 220 d 4MATIC with a 2.0-litre diesel mild hybrid, 197 hp, automatic gearbox and 4MATIC all-wheel drive, plus AMG Line styling and the large Mercedes displays inside.

It suits couples and families with older children who want the presence and all-wheel drive of a midsize SUV, but a sleeker look than a boxy SUV. The diesel and 4MATIC make it a strong winter car for long drives, whether that is the Autobahn to Stuttgart or a ski weekend in Austria, with the seasonal tyres we fit.

In daily life the GLC Coupé suits people whose week involves long drives and who want to arrive looking composed: senior staff with meetings across Germany, contractors travelling between installations, or couples who spend their weekends in the Alps. The diesel and 4MATIC make winter trips over the hills or into the mountains calm. Families with teenagers are usually happy in the back; families with toddlers and bulky strollers will find the regular GLC easier to load. Think of it as the stylish long-distance car, not the family workhorse.

The coupé roof costs rear headroom and some boot height compared to the regular GLC. If you often carry tall adults in the back, a large dog crate or bulky furniture, the standard GLC 220 d 4MATIC at the same price is the more practical choice. If you want a similar coupé SUV shape in a smaller size, the Cupra Formentor and BMW X2 are in our mid price class, but both are front-wheel drive.

Questions

What is included in the monthly price?

Fully comprehensive and partial cover with a EUR 1,500 deductible, registration, German plates and road tax, maintenance and service, seasonal tyres, 3,000 km a month and a PCS clause. There is no setup fee. VAT forms accepted. You add fuel.

Is there a deposit?

Yes, three months' rent of your plan: €5,397 on the 6-month plan and on the 30-day plan incl. VAT, €4,536 on the 30-day plan with a VAT form (NF-1), VAT-free. You pay it on site at handover, not online. You get the deposit back immediately at the return, as soon as the return report shows no damage. There is no down payment. For customers resident in Germany we run a credit check with SCHUFA Holding AG before the contract starts. If the result is negative, we may decline the booking; anything already paid is refunded in full.

Does the GLC Coupé have less space than the GLC?

Some. It is the same GLC 220 d 4MATIC underneath, but the sloping roof costs rear headroom and some boot height. For tall rear passengers, big dog crates or bulky loads, the regular GLC is the better choice.

Is the GLC Coupé a diesel with all-wheel drive?

Yes: a 2.0-litre diesel mild hybrid with 197 hp, an automatic gearbox and 4MATIC all-wheel drive, with AMG Line styling.

How big is the boot of the GLC Coupé?

545 litres with all seats in use, up to 1,490 litres with the rear seats folded (figures from the ADAC car catalogue, GLC 220 d 4MATIC Coupé 9G-TRONIC). The GLC takes 75 litres more (620 litres).
