Why people pick the M135 xDrive M Technik II

  • 300 hp, all-wheel drive, hatchback body. The fast one you can still park.
  • M Performance brakes and chassis.

Who the BMW M135 xDrive suits

The M135 xDrive is the fast one you can still park. It is a compact five-door hatchback with a 2.0-litre turbo petrol, 300 hp, automatic gearbox and xDrive all-wheel drive. On paper that is sports car power; in practice it is a small car that fits into old-town parking garages and narrow village streets.

It suits drivers who want performance without giving up everyday use. All-wheel drive puts the power down in the wet and helps on winter roads with the seasonal tyres we fit, which makes this a much more usable year-round car than a rear-wheel-drive coupé. The boot is the same size as in the regular 1 Series, enough for a weekend for two or a trip to the commissary.

The M135 is for the driver who knows exactly why they want 300 hp and still has to get the groceries home. It suits a single soldier or a couple on a tour where the car is part of the experience: early Sunday runs to the Alps, twisty country roads in the Bavarian Forest, and a weekday that still includes parking at the commissary. Because it is compact and has all-wheel drive, it is far easier to live with through a German winter than a powerful rear-wheel-drive car. Be realistic about comfort: the firm setup that makes it fun on a mountain road also sends more of the road's bumps into the cabin.

It is not a family car for long holidays, and a firmer M Performance setup means you feel more of the road than in a comfort-oriented car like the C-Class. If you want similar power with more space, the BMW 3 Series Touring 330i xDrive and the 4 Series Gran Coupé 430i xDrive both have 245 hp and all-wheel drive in the same price class. If you want the compact size with less power and lower fuel use, the 123 xDrive is one class down.

Questions

What is included in the monthly price?

Fully comprehensive and partial cover with a EUR 1,500 deductible, registration, German plates and road tax, maintenance and service, seasonal tyres, 3,000 km a month and a PCS clause. There is no setup fee. VAT forms accepted. You add fuel.

Is there a deposit?

Yes, three months' rent of your plan: €4,347 on the 6-month plan and on the 30-day plan incl. VAT, €3,654 on the 30-day plan with a VAT form (NF-1), VAT-free. You pay it on site at handover, not online. You get the deposit back immediately at the return, as soon as the return report shows no damage. There is no down payment. For customers resident in Germany we run a credit check with SCHUFA Holding AG before the contract starts. If the result is negative, we may decline the booking; anything already paid is refunded in full.

Is the M135 xDrive usable in winter?

Yes. It has xDrive all-wheel drive, and we fit winter tyres for the season, so it is a year-round car rather than a summer toy. The 300 hp still call for a careful right foot on snow.

M135 xDrive or 230i Coupé?

Both are the fun cars of our fleet, with different characters. The M135 is a five-door hatchback with 300 hp and all-wheel drive, usable all year and for daily errands. The 230i Coupé has two doors, four seats, 245 hp and rear-wheel drive: the purer summer car.

How big is the boot of the M135 xDrive?

380 litres with all seats in use, up to 1,200 litres with the rear seats folded (figures from BMW, M135 xDrive Steptronic). That is 80 litres more than the 123 xDrive (300 litres).

How fast is the M135 xDrive?

0 to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds and a top speed of 250 km/h, according to BMW (M135 xDrive Steptronic). The 123 xDrive needs 6.3 seconds to 100 km/h.

How much can the M135 xDrive tow?

Up to 750 kg braked at a 12 % gradient, according to the ADAC car catalogue (M135 xDrive Steptronic). A hitch depends on the concrete car: request it at booking, we confirm by email. For heavier trailers, the X3 20d is rated at 2,500 kg.

More answers on PCS orders and on extra kilometres, cancelling and breakdowns are in the Q&A. The binding rules are in the terms (AGB).
